Matheis Novelty. 962 Baxter Ave. Louisville, KY 40204

History

Matheis Novelty Company was established in 1970 at Texas and Goss Streets in the Germantown neighborhood of Louisville, KY by Bill, Frances, and Gary Matheis predominantly as a supplier of prizes and awards for school carnivals and festivals.  After expanding in BINGO supplies in 1980, the company relocated to 962 Baxter Avenue where  in addition to the Carnival Supplies, and a retail novelty store.  It began the manufacture of throw away BINGO cards with the assistance of Bingo Kink Company of Council Bluffs, Iowa.


Within a few years, the company had outgrown the Baxter Avenue location and acquired and moved in to a 40,000 square foot building located at 3rd & York Streets in Downtown Louisville.


The company was sold in 1997.
